Hola de nuevo a todos. Esta vez me tengo que poner serio y lo siento. Hace poco he visto un documental titulado “Febrero, el miedo de los galgos” de una directora de Barcelona que se llama Irene Blázquez. En el documental cuenta cómo es la vida de los galgos que usan los cazadores, sobre todo en zonas de Castilla y del sur de España, y que son abandonados o asesinados (sí, yo también soy un perro y puedo utilizar esta palabra) cuando acaba la temporada de caza.
En la película podemos conocer a Mila, una galga que fue abandonada en un pueblo de Sevilla y recogida por la asociación SOS Galgos con muchas heridas. Es solo un ejemplo de los 50.000 galgos que se calcula que son abandonados al año cuando ya no les sirven a los galgueros porque ya son mayores y no pueden correr tanto o porque tienen otros perros mejores. Muchos de ellos mueren y otros son recogidos desnutridos, con huesos rotos y también rotos psicológicamente. ¿Os habéis preguntado alguna vez por qué los galgos son muchas veces tan miedosos?
En febrero, sí, este mismo mes, acaba la temporada de caza menor y empieza la temporada de sufrimiento para los galgos. En algunos casos se llega a la crueldad de ahorcarlos de los árboles. Ya sé que todos los cazadores no son iguales y que muchos tratarán bien a sus perros. Pero yo cuando veo a un humano con una escopeta al hombro me echo a temblar. Y no es nada personal.
¿Qué podemos hacer? Pues lo primero tener conciencia de que ese problema existe, no dejar que impere el silencio para que las autoridades no se escaqueen. Y, sobre todo, denunciar si conocemos casos de maltrato o de abandono. Llamar al Seprona de la Guardia Civil.
Otra posibilidad es adoptar, salvar la vida de uno de esos perros que han sido para sus dueños como un kleenex de usar y tirar. Para eso, podéis entrar en la página web de SOS Galgos y ver las fotos. Mirar los ojos de esos perros que solo esperan una vida mejor. Y decidid.
“Ninguna tradición puede justificar el maltrato animal y es reflejo de una sociedad de la que no quiero formar parte”, he leído que ha dicho Irene Blázquez. Desde el lado perruno de la barrera solo puedo estar de acuerdo con eso y decir: gracias, Irene, por tu película y gracias a todas las asociaciones que os preocupáis por que los perros, y los animales en general, podamos vivir mejor.

Been around dogs my enrtie life and I haven\'t killed one yet. I plan to always have one or more. I did not go to dog school or read a book or any other thing before owning a dog. If I have a question about a dog, I ask my vet or my friend who raises them. You don\'t have to be extremely educated to own a pet I know alot of people who don\'t know much and their dogs are loved and fine. As long as you take care of them and don\'t ignore things I think its fine. Just like people having babies. We don\'t take classes or go to school. Its kind of common sense what to do or if we need outside assistance. I didn\'t run off and educate myself on having babies either. Just the nutrician when pregnant or what came up. I had all four without any pain meds what so ever. My kids are great, and so are all my dogs and cats. In fact I had a dog with cancer. The vet asked how did we know so fast something was wrong as it had just reached a point it would casue symtoms or pain. Well we know our pet and we knew he didnt act right that day and on into the next so we took him in. We had no clue what was wrong, just that something was. Thats what vets are for!!!
